Director of Clinical Pathology
A leading academic medical institution is seeking a dynamic and experienced pathologist to serve as Director of Clinical Pathology. The successful candidate will oversee clinical laboratory operations across multiple facilities, lead a team of section chiefs, and help advance a vision for integrated, value-based laboratory medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and manage all operations of the Clinical Pathology laboratories, including core hospital, outpatient, regional, and specialty labs.
Serve as CLIA Laboratory Director, ensuring regulatory compliance and CAP accreditation.
Lead a team of section chiefs (microbiology, molecular, transfusion, chemistry) and other medical directors.
Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient care through expert lab interpretation and consultation.
Mentor residents and fellows; participate in teaching and potentially research activities.
Advance strategic initiatives to expand and integrate clinical laboratory services.
Qualifications:
MD or MD/PhD with board certification in Clinical Pathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology.
Significant leadership experience in clinical pathology operations.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Academic rank at the Associate Professor or Professor level preferred; exceptional Assistant Professors with leadership experience will be considered.
Demonstrated commitment to education and innovation in laboratory medicine.
