Job Responsibilities:

Systems Engineer Level 4 will join the Systems Integration, Test & Launch Engineering Group, reporting administratively to the Technical Group Supervisor and programmatically to the Lead Systems Engineer. Your initial assignment will be to serve as an ATLO Systems Engineer on a project. Some of your initial tasks may include the development and execution of functional and behavioral tests at the flight systems level. You will also ensure that the Section's methodology on the execution of the system engineering process and practices, specifically the Verification and Validation Processes, are effectively utilized and implemented by the Project systems engineering team.

You will work independently and within a team environment, collaborating on tasks performed across a spectrum of disciplines, and have excellent writing and oral presentation skills.

Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting flight software and hardware testing

• Collaborate and work with the System Testbed team

• Lead Anomaly investigation

• Work test shifts that may include nights and weekends, and sometimes extended work weeks

• Supporting Observatory testing in India

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated skills in Spacecraft test planning, test procedure development, problem reporting/investigation, coordination of test data analysis, and test report generation

• Demonstrated skills in designing, implementing and testing electronic hardware or instruments that are used within complex space systems

• Demonstrated skills in independently leading test activities and coordinating with other team players

• Experience within a multidisciplinary system engineering or test team

• Demonstrated knowledge of processes that are used to verify/validate the design requirements of systems

• Ability to react to frequent changes in plans and excel in a rapid pace concurrent engineering environment

• Available to support frequent foreign travel

Desired Skills:

• Detailed knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies and procedures, and government regulations across a range of applications

• Understanding of the proper application of JPL design principles, flight project practices, hardwarehandling constraints, and the JPL risk management practice
