LA-based and tech-driven Real Estate Fund is on the market for a strong Tax Manager to oversee all tax matters who can grow to become the Head of the Department. The Candidate will be responsible for corporate tax reporting, compliance, property tax and sales & use tax.

There will also be additional responsibilities related to technical research and analysis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a young investment firm in a pivotal stage of growth. My client's portfolio has grown from 10 operating properties in 2020 to over 60 in the current portfolio with another 50 in the pipeline. The Accounting team has also grown from 3 to 16 in the same time frame. Fund raises have been extremely successful and interest rates have not impacted the asset class as heavy as other property types.

Responsibilities

· Leads and support monthly, quarterly and annual tax reporting closing process

· Prepare and file Annual Tax Compliance documentation to all relevant tax authorities

· Oversee tax matters related to partnerships, including handling partnership allocations and ensuring compliance with partnership agreements

· Develop strong working relationships with senior management and other functions

· Develop and implement opportunities for process standardization and improvement in tax procedures

· Stay up-to-date with tax laws and regulations that impact the business and make recommendations accordingly

· Supervise tax audits, litigations and communications with tax authorities, courts and external advisors

· Ensure adherence to transfer pricing rules and regulations

· Coordinate and mange internal relationships and third-party partners regarding accounting, legal, regulator, and tax

· Manage sales and use tax, property tax and miscellaneous reporting requirements

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required, Master’s degree preferred

· CPA required

· Minimum of 5 years of tax experience

· REIT, real estate, or private equity partnership tax experience required

· Strong understanding of FAS 109 and U.S. GAAP reporting for income taxes

· Strong project management experience

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
