The position reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. Selects transducer, and makes equipment adjustments according to the nature of the test, depth of field, and other specifications of the test. Check the physician requisition for complete information on the procedure requested; refer any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and can differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations.

Must be a graduate of an approved program of Ultrasound/Sonography, or equivalent

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Must have current BLS upon hire.

ARDMS (RVT), ARRT (VS) or CCI (RVS) registered

NM license to practice as a Sonographer.
