Role:
A Satellite Database Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining databases that support satellite integration, operations, telemetry processing, mission planning, and analytics. This role requires expertise in handling large-scale telemetry and command data, including Mission Information Base (MIB) formats, which are essential for defining telemetry and command dictionaries.
Tasks and Techical Skills:
Mission Information Base (MIB) Expertise:
• Experience in handling, processing, and managing MIB format files for satellite telemetry and command definitions.
• Understanding of MIB database structures for storing telemetry parameters, command definitions, and limits.
• Ability to parse, validate, and integrate MIB files into satellite operations software.
Telemetry & Command Data Handling:
• Experience with real-time and historical telemetry data processing.
• Knowledge of CCSDS (Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems) standards for telemetry and command data.
• Familiarity with telemetry data encoding, compression, and error handling.
Data Modeling & Architecture:
• Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational database design for space systems.
• Ability to optimize database performance for high-volume satellite telemetry and command data.
Big Data & Analytics:
• Experience handling large telemetry datasets from satellites and ground stations.
Cloud & Infrastructure:
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure Cosmos DB, Google BigQuery).
• Familiarity with containerized database deployment (Docker, Kubernetes).
