POSITIONS SUMMARY:

As a Power Analyst, you will engage in in-depth modeling and market forecasting analysis. This position involves collaborating with various teams to gather and refine modeling assumptions and methodologies for integration into economic models. The insights derived from the analysis will support project development and acquisition strategies within a diverse team. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing reports and presentations to communicate the findings of your analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 6 years of experience using one or more market simulation tools, hands-on modeling expertise in at least one energy market, and a track record of mentoring colleagues.

JOB FUNCTION:

  • Provide market analytical support and insights to a growing portfolio of BESS, renewable, and hybrid projects
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to teammates
  • Research and development of production cost models and data validation
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop working assumptions to assess market potential and identify project risks
  • Run near and long-term nodal production cost studies to forecast the projected price impacts and performance of a changing generation fleet
  • Assess the technical and commercial feasibility of green-fielding or acquiring projects
  • Prepare summaries, reports, and other materials of technical results to technical and non-technical team members
  • Develop and streamline processes and automation to support an efficient workflow
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 years minimum experience with at least 1 Production Cost Modeling Software: PROMOD, PLEXOS, AURORA, ENCOMPASS, DAYZER, etc
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with additional consideration given to applicants with advanced degrees
  • Proficient in one or more power system powerflow tools: TARA, PSS/E, PSLF
  • Experience in one or more electric markets (CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, NYISO)
  • Working knowledge of NERC planning standards
  • Experience with Python, Java, or similar programming languages desired
  • Experience with data visualization tools (ArcGIS, PowerBI) desired
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to work under tight time requirements and deadlines.
