Responsibilities:

  • Review blueprints, work orders, and tooling instructions to determine specifications, encompassing hole locations, size, feed rates, cutting speeds, and the specified cutting tools.
  • Collaborate with the team leader to ascertain the appropriate tooling and method for completing the assigned job.
  • Secure the specified tool in the spindle.
  • Manually lift the workpiece or employ a hoist, placing it in a fixture, jig, or on the machine table, and secure it with clamps.
  • Position and secure the drilling jig to guide the cutting tool.
  • Manually operate the feed lever to advance the tool to the specified depth in the workpiece.
  • Turn the valve handle to activate the flow of coolant against the tool and workpiece, immerse the tool in cutting oil before mounting, or manually lubricate the workpiece or tool.
  • Utilize a de-burring tool to eliminate any sharp edges on the part.
  • Verify the conformance of machined workpieces to specifications.
  • Work with metallic or nonmetallic materials.
  • Sustain a clean, safe, and orderly working area.
